designer Rebekah
Zaveloff shares her
proven secrets fo r
choosing paint colors
fo r yo u r kitchen.
CLEAR VIEW
Strip
yo u r kitchen of any
extra color before
judging a paint sw atch:
Prim e over th e current
wall color, peel off blue
painter’s tape, and
rem ove any protective
drop cloths. “ Even
seasoned professionals
get tripped up w hen
looking at a new color
option next to old
colors and finishes,”
says Zaveloff.
REFERENCE POINT
“ If y o u ’re th e kind of
person w h o agonizes
betw een six blue-grays,
use a natural m aterial
you love, like tile o r
stone, to help you
m ake th e selection,”
Zaveloff says. Lay the
chips next to th e tile
and choose th e color
that it pairs w ith best.
WHEN IN DOUBT
“ Pick th e grayed-down
version o f any color,”
Zaveloff says. “ Bright
colors are great, but
w e ’re bound to get sick
o f them m ore easily.” ®
